I'm trying to create an online searchable database similar to the NHL player search database (http://www.nhl.com/ice/playersearch.htm#?navid=nav-ply-search).
The idea here is that I have an epic database with thousands of players. I want to be able to create a sort of online recruiting guide database, where coaches, scouts, etc. can go to the site, log in with the proper credentials, and search for players. A search would bring up a list of players, for example, that meet the criteria being searched. Then, if a coach saw a player he was interested in, he would click on that players name which would bring him to the player's record. This record would contain contact information, player picture(s), and any other additional information like statistics. All this information would be updated and administered by our staff, all on the computers at our office. I'm simply just looking for a way to publish a searchable database to a website.
I'm currently using Filemaker Pro 9, but I'm open to any suggestions like Microsoft Access, etc. However, we are using iMacs with Mac OS X Leopard.
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!
