I don't think it matters what order they are installed.

You should only install them on the same computer if you absolutely have to.

Please be more specific when you describe software. You are not trying to install SQL Server 2008 management Studio(SSMS), you are trying to install SQL Server 2008 management Studio Express (SSMSE). Either way, both of them are worthless unless you also install an edition of SQL Server. Judging by your unwillingness to pay for software, I'm assuming you will need to install SQL Server 2008 Express Edition. So the question is, what OS are you running 32 bit or 64 bit?

Either way you have to install the .Net Framework 3.5 and its service pack 1.

Did you reboot the computer?

Which OS your computer? You try to install Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 at first.

My computer OS is windows xp.I had installed succee Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 at first and then i will will install sql 2008.

Actually, microsoft .net framework 3.5 or microsoft .net framework 4.0 install separate the same as well. But when you are installing Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 or SQL 2008,The Operating system also guide you that need to download .net framework and then direct install you computer.
