I have a list of 12,000 unique numbers and a folder with 12000 text files each containing one of those unique numbers. Is there a program or way to take that list and search the folder for each file and output a list containing those unique numbers and corresponding filename? It can be mac or windows. Thanks for any help!

the standard windows search can analyze the contents of text files as well as their names. just pick this option :)

while WIndows and Mac OS X both have searches built in that will look inside of files and get that info fine... the format your wanting isn't easy. It would be an extremely simple program to write though if you are into programming. Just read the directory contents, then loop through each file name pulling out the data...
