I'm building a website and i'd like users to be able to do two things, help with either one of them would be appreciated:

1. I'd like them to be able to post a brief profile of themselves onto one page with a line going to who told them about the site, and if no one did than to start a new tree. basicly a big flow chart with the first members on top with lines showing who they invited and then who those people invited and so on. It doesn't need t be a big profile just maybe name, town, and photo(optional). Is this possible? If not, is there something similiar I could do? Keep in mind that this is not a "sign in" type page, i want this feature to be available to anyone who accesses the site

2. i'd like a zoomable map of the town/local area/county that anybody accessing the site can add pushpins with labels that are visible to everyone. again, is this possible? possible with Mappoint or streets?

any help is appreciated!

1. Depending on exactly what you want, this can get complicated. If you're a talented programmer, ASP.NET provides some controls that will greatly assist in this kind of project. If you're not a senior developer, you might find that deploying an embedded Excel spreadsheet would be easiest (each new person added to a cell, and the specific cell depending on the parent cell/recommender). From Office 2000 on, Excel spreadsheets can be deployed as web content but only Office 2007 does not require the User to install an Office Webpart browser plugin.

2. All of the major mapping sites (eg Mapquest, Google, maps.live.com) all have developer APIs which permit you to embed their mapping services into your application.

1. A few further details would be appreciated. In most cases, it's HIGHLY advisable to have a sign in feature. This allows that person (and only that person) to edit only their own profile. If you decide to do this with sign in, then I'd suggest learn a server-side scripting language, such as PHP, and a database language (such as MySQL).

2. Try the Google Maps API, it's fairly fast and highly flexible. However, you will need to know JavaScript/AJAX relatively well, especially if you want to link this to feature 1.

Stumbleupon is an outstanding information superhighway website to discover new web content that you want. You create an account and also you research the boxes of the topics that you want. then you definately definately press the stumble button. you receives a image of a information superhighway website and also you'd be able to both pass to it and look into it out or you may want to 'stumble' again. You fee web content that it reported for you and it 'learns' what you want and the recommendations change into added and bigger precise to what you want as you employ it added and bigger. large thanks to kill time and to discover large, new web content. I also pass to Hulu. Catching up on very last nights shows...
