Why do emails that I send from my email address associated with my small website always go to spam? Is there a way I can fix this?

It's probably because you have a dynamic IP address. Most mail systems start by distrusting mail from anything other than accredited static IP addresses.

The way round this is to route your mail through your ISP's SMTP server rather than attempting to send it directly to the recipient.

Whether or not an email is deemed to be "spam" is determined by the recipient's server (spam filter). Some filters are heuristic and score your email against known spam signatures or patterns. Many others use a blacklist. There is also something called Reverse DNS checks that servers uses to flag spam.

If you are hosting your own email server and you have a static IP address then you can check whether or not it was previously blacklisted at http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx If so, you can ask to be removed from the blacklist by letting them know you are a new owner of the IP address. You also want to contact your ISP to get reverse DNS enabled to associate your domain to the static IP address. It basically works by showing the recipient that your domain is verified by your ISP and is not a spoofed domain.

It could be the content of your email. The recipient's spam filter analyzes the content for spam-like words and phrases. Also, if you send out a lot of emails at once the ISP or your host may be flagging it as spam.

Where the email goes is determined by your email program, not by the program sending it. Check your definition of "spam" in your email program (the one you use to read the emails).
