Did you make sure you downloaded the appropriate files? Sometimes in situations like this, you download what you think is the program, but is actually just extensions of the program, nothing more than added things here and there.

Also have you tried searching for it? Go to your start menu and type in "Visual Basic" and see what pulls up, if there is no ".exe", then you probably downloaded the wrong thing and or you got it from a site other than Microsoft and the uploader didn't include the .exe.

If it was me I wouldn't download VB 6.0, I would choose VB 2010 express edition. It is much closer to the current year and has lots of updates and if you want you can get VB studios, but personally I don't to much care for that myself, rather just picking out what I want, though some people like VB studio because it has all the programming languages (not all, but most of the used ones, such as C# or C++) in one.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.getpchealthboost.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.
