ASP.NET is a server side language which runs on .Net framework, you will require either MS Visual Web Developer of MS Visual Studio to work on ASP.NET, they have an inbuilt running environment

ASP = Active Server Pages. It's a server-side language that's interpreted by Microsoft IIS servers. Requirement? The ability to write programs and familiarity with ASP.Net.
