Is there any way to merge layer styles in Photoshop?

I'm making a website in Flash Catalyst that I first designed in Photoshop, but none of the layer styles that I applied to the text are imported into FC. So, is there any way that I can merge the text and it's layer styles? I can't flatten the image - although it would solve the problem, it would leave it uneditable in FC.

the really easy way is:

insert an empty layer underneath the styled layer, then right click the styled layer, and click (merge down).

but make sure that you don't want the styles anymore, or backup the file, or save the style...

hope that helps :)

What version of Photoshop are you using and how are you going about merging the layers? I know that when I use CS2 or CS3, select the 2 layers and use the flyout menu at the top of the layer palette to merge layers (or right click and select merge), I don't have that problem. It looks exactly like it did before I merged.

Not sure if this will do what you want it to, but worth a try

Save the file as a copy first so you still have your original intact.

Then select each text layer and from the Layers palette's drop down list select Group into New Smart Object.

This combines the elements but you can still edit the content in Photoshop by double clicking on the icon/layer name. Hopefully it will also allow you to import text with effects in FC but retain the editability that you need.
