So I really want to be able to make animated gifs, like for Tumblr. I want to make them from videos and movies, but I can't figure out how exactly. I'm not talking about any of those sites like gifsoup. I don't have photoshop, but I have something similar called GIMP. I looked up how to make gifs on GIMP, but you have to download the Gimp Animation Package, but I don't think I have the right version of Mac for the download (I only have 10.4.11)

Could anyone please suggest ways to create gifs?

There used to be something called whirlgif, or ImageMagick will convert individual images to an animated GIF.

Mplayer will convert movies in any format it supports (lots) to animated GIF

Since Mac is now BSD under the hood, there are probably versions for Mac.

The GIMP animation pack probably does tweening and lets you design animation from keyframes. Juts a guess

You need to install the GAP plug-in to do that in GIMP.

I think you can get GAP for Mac here: http://www.macports.org/ports.php?by=name&substr=gimp

@Your Shadow - with respect, I don't think Windows Movie maker will be much use on a Mac!!
