You shouldn't have to do anything to be able to read HTML email. If you are using a web-based email provider like Yahoo or Juno or your ISP's online email, that is the default anyhow. If you are using a program like Windows Mail or Outlook, they can read HTML email just fine.

The only thing you might want to check is if you are sending your email in HTML format. For example, in Windows Mail, you select the Tools -> Options menu and go to the Read tab and make sure HTML email is selected.

Many ESP's (Email Service Providers) disable images by default for senders who are not in your contact list or "known" entities as indicated by you. Try either looking for a button that says something like "Always display content from x." or add the sender to you contacts list within the web email service.
