Content Management Systems are designed to:

* automate the creation, publishing, and updating of Web site content

* make maintaining a Web site easier

* allow content experts to manage their own content

Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal are some of the content management systems.

With the use of it a person who doesnt no much of coding can create the site with a database in hand.

Everything will be dynamic , no need to create new tml pages, opnly needed is content ie, content managing should be done to maintain the site.

One of the example of cms is blogs....

Content manager is used to handle the contents of the website. Basically, it gives any body (how has the authority to login) the facility to change the static contents of the website as and when required. Even a person how does not know any thing about the programming can change the contents of the website through it. The only thing required is the access to the CMS through the login. Due to it the client is no more dependent on the developer for updating his website for future.

Imagine a system that gives you a console for writing the articles and publishing them in a layout of your choice. You don't worry about HTML, Java, Flash or anything of that sort. All you do is keep updating the content through an interface that looks like yahoo mail ( in simplest terms).

You can add, remove or update your articles or menus through a simple user interface and all this is placed for you on your webpage automatically. This is what a CMS ( Content management system) does for you.

In simple words content management systems mean that special tool provided to the client to add/edit/delete the content (text and images) of a website without knowing HTML or any other programming language. Simply client can log in to the account and change the pages or add pages or delete pages or its content and after saving it it will be online.

Any of the three are very suitable for use. Drupal, Wordpress, or Joomla. It's the understanding of how the sites work and how coding, html, php, etc, can be manipulated that would enable any of these systems to show your design exactly the same in each system. The difference I see is in the support, updates, community, and plugins which are created for each CMS. Check into each and try one out. They're all very similar imo.
