I have a MacBook and I just started as an Administrative assistant. My boss wants me to bring my lap top to work and put quickbooks on it at her expense. They have a copy of quickbooks for their pc that they said could put on mine, but they dont know i have a mac. So my question is will that same version of Quickbooks work with my mac?

There is a Mac version of QuickBooks. However, if you want to switch your company's existing QuickBooks PC file over to the Mac, you'll have to do some reseach. According to the QuickBooks website, if you're using QuickBooks 2009 on the PC, you can transfer your data over to the Mac 2009 version. According to the website: "Yes. QuickBooks for Mac can upgrade QuickBooks for Windows 2009 (Enterprise edition excluded) company files directly from within the product."

But I know for a fact that this was not possible with earlier versions of QuickBooks on the PC. I have been waiting for years to switch over without losing 12 years of data.

You may want to call Intuit. Tell them what version of QuickBooks your company is using now, and ask them if you will be able to transfer the company file to QuickBooks 2009 on the Mac, AND be sure to ask if all the data will be intact upon transfer.

There is a Mac version available, but they may have to purchase another license (the Mac version)
