hi all ,
i have a simple html website
no php, no database or anything else , just simple html website .

my website was hosted on Godaddy windows IIS6 server, and everything was working just fine, after updating the server to IIS7 some pages in the website can't be displayed anymore .

when i enter some of the website i keep getting same error message:
"The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred"

here is what microsoft has to say on the subject

Cause of error message :
This problem occurs because the server that is running IIS 7.0 cannot access the configured root directory of the requested location. To resolve this problem, see Resolution 2.

Resolution
Make sure that the server that is running IIS 7.0 can access the configured root directory of the requested location.

i honestly couldn't understand much of what Microsoft said , can anybody say it in a simple language, or if u have any other idea on fixing the errors .

By the way ,
i tried re-uploading the pages , didn't help
i tried deleting the pages , i keep getting same error message.

The error means that your website's root folder has not been configured in IIS 7.

Generally when you host your website on Godaddy, you store all your files in a directory/folder which is called ROOT folder.Your IIS 7 should have an entry to point to your root folder.

Also, if the website root is already configured , then it may be a problem of access permissions.

You can follow the following steps to see your IIS settings:

1) Log in to your Account Manager.

2) In the My Products section, select Hosting.

3) Next to the hosting account you want to modify, click Manage Account.

4) In the Content section of the Hosting Control Center, click the IIS Management icon.

5) To modify an existing directory or directories, select the appropriate directories and click Edit. To remove a directory, click on the X to the right of the directory (This will NOT delete the directory and its contents).

6) Type a directory name, select the settings you want to apply to the directory, and click Continue. To un-set a directory as an application root in IIS, make sure the Set Application Root option is DE-selected.

Verify the settings for this directory. If the settings listed are correct, click Continue.

The exact screen kept popping up everytime I tried to play a game yesterday. I thought it was something with my computer, so I tried every suggestion that's on the site and I'm pretty sure it's something on their end. It's just aggravating that something is always wrong on that site. I pay money to play and never can. Hopefully they'll get that fixed. I'm kind of glad that that wasn't just happening to me though so I'm pretty sure that you have nothing to worry about and hopefully, they will figure out what's going on and fix it and we can finally play again. :)
