Ah, classic mistake.

You bought a domain name, but you didn't buy any HOSTING!

You see, it's separate.

Think of it this way. Hosting is your piece of land on the Internet. And domain name is the road sign.

It's no use to have just the road sign if you have no land to point it to! If you have the land, and no road sign, people can still get there if you give them explicit directions (in this case, IP address)

So buy some hosting (the bare minimum package should be enough), point your domain to the host (if you bought both from Godaddy, call them for support), then upload your site to the host.

Voila, problem solved.

Hopefully by 'space' you mean linux or windows web site hosting.

1. Your name servers at your domain registry (name.com) need to point at your hosting service (godaddy.com). Your welcome letter from godaddy might list the name servers you should use, or use this link http://help.godaddy.com/article/43 . This is a link to instructions at name.com http://www.name.com/faq/change-name-servers . Once you make the change it can take up to 72 hours (usually takes much less on a new domain) to propagate to all the DNS servers on the internet.

2. The best way to upload your website depends on what program you used to write it. If the program has a built-in tool, thats probably easiest. The settings you need will either be in your welcome letter from godaddy, or you can login to your godaddy account and search help. If your program does not include a tool you can use an ftp program once again using the settings from your welcome letter or godaddy's help system ( http://help.godaddy.com/article/96? ). If you used Frontpage to write your website you need to make some setting changes at godaddy ( http://help.godaddy.com/article/51 ) and use Frontpage's built-in tools ( http://help.godaddy.com/article/52 ).

3. If you waited long enough for DNS to propagate, wrote your website using the format required by godaddy and were able to upload successfully, your website should now work.

you will desire to login to the Godady website and click on help. I had them help me do something very comparable some years decrease back. they are stable approximately walking you for the duration of the approach.
