There is a great program you can use called photo story. I made 3 family slide shows on it. It's very easy to use.

Download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=92755126-a008-49b3-b3f4-6f33852af9c1&DisplayLang=en

1).You can download a free trial of PowerPoint

2) Install OpenOffice

OpenOffice is a free office suite just like Microsoft Office. It includes Word, PowerPoint; Excel equivalents that will allow you to create and edit Microsoft Office documents (meaning they can be opened later on a computer with Microsoft Office) download it here:

http://www.openoffice.org/

3) Use Google Docs

you can view create and edit Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents using Google Docs. The good thing is you do not need to install anything, it is all online. The bad thing is, it does not have as advanced editing as an installed app. tries it here:

http://docs.google.com/

As for burning the slides to dvd, you can try Acoolsoft PPT2DVD here http://acoolsoft.com/powerpoint-to-dvd-overview.html#176. It will help you burn the slides to dvd directly with wonderful conversion result.

Use Microsoft Powerpoint. interior Powerpoint, there is an option to import an audio document on your slide instruct. Then basically burn the instruct onto a DVD with DVD burning utility.
