I am having trouble downloading Java. I downloaded Java and opened it to install and get the message "C:\Users\Holly\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\jre1.7.0_51\jre1.7.0_51-c.msi is corrupt."
I looked up ideas such as running as administrator, disk cleanup, moving the downloaded file to documents, and even tried downloading it offline and I get the message "C:\Users\Holly\Downloads\jre-7u51-windows-i586.exe is not a valid Win32 application". I'm confident I've tried everything. Please, is there someone who can help? I'm getting so annoyed with it.

Check that the size of the downloaded file (right click > Properties > Size) is the same as the size it says on the website. If it isn't, download again and keep trying until you get the entire file.

You can also try downloading from the Oracle website [1] (select "jre-7u51-windows-x64.exe"). The MD5 checksums are available on [2], so you can verify the integrity of the download by running a checksum utility (e.g. FCIV [3]) on the downloaded file. You should get b0f3a9c0f4c2c66127223ba3644b54f6. For information about checksums, see Wikipedia [4].

You might have accidentally downloaded the Win x64 version. The 64-bit version won't run on a 32-bit Windows.

Did you use this?

Where did you download the setup files?
