I am looking for a migration tool which can help me in migrating the application written in clipper (on DOS) to Foxpro for windows or Visual Foxpro. Please suggest me the appropriate software to migrate the source code as well as the database files.

I dont think any tool will stright away convert from one language to another including clipper to foxpro.

instead why don't you think of re-developing in visual foxpro.

i am an excellent foxpro on dos/foxpro for windows/visual foxpro programmer. if u send me the code with the software, i can re-develop it for you.

but u have to send me both clipper as well as visual foxpro.

u contact me at lakshmiteja@rediffmail.com

Hi -

I don't know of any code converters or screen converters, but - for converting the data files - I'm a big fan of using dbf2000 (see site url below) . There are other consultancies that specialize in this type of code conversion - it's typically a manual process - have you done any inquiries there in your area? You CAN write vfp code to parse the clipper code and extract things and make new things, but its really not for the timid.

If you want to keep your coding conversion to a minimum, I would suggest you look at xHarbour (see link below) . I know - it's still Clipper -type syntax and data structures, but hey - it's also the 'least path' for switching over to 'something else' - less time for conversion, less time for mucking about with data.

Hope this helps?

hit the windows key + r will give you the run box. or goto start and click run in the run box type cmd. that will pull up the the command prompt. I also looked up the bcc32 and I get that it is the Borland C compiler. If you dont have that then go search and download it. To point out the ms-dos prompt still exist in windows xp. the command prompt is the ms-dos prompt. When windows first started all the way back to windows 3.1 the dos prompt was changed to MS-DOS prompt. the ms-dos stands for microsoft disk operating system. It is actually believe be that the ms was added so microsoft would not get in trouble for copywright infringement.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if anyone on Yahoo knows Clipper.

Have you tried to Google it?

Sorry that I can't be of any more assistance.
