I have a table I need to print on 300 pages but want each one numbered differently (ie page 1 of 300, 2 of 300, et) - is there any way to do this without copying and pasting 300 pages?

Copying it onto 300 pages isn't really as hard as it sounds. You don't have to copy 300 times, just 9 times. Do this:

1. In the base document, put a page break after the table with a CTRL/Enter keypress.

2. Select the entire document and press CTRL/C.

3. Go to the end of the document and press CTRL/V. This will give you two pages.

4. Repeat both steps 2 and 3. This will give you four pages. A third time will give you eight pages, then 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 and 512.

5. Delete the pages you don't need (or don't double the last pass, just add 44 pages).

Now to number the pages, do this:

In Word versions prior to Word 2007:

1. Click the Insert->Page Numbers menu item.

2. Set the Position and Alignment list boxes to put the page number where you want it.

3. Click OK.

4. Click on the page number in the header or footer.

5. Click the Insert->AutoText->Header and Footer->Page X of Y menu item.

In Word 2007:

1. On the Insert tab of the Ribbon, click Page Number in the Header and Footer group.

2. Select Top of Page and pick a format.

3. Click on the page number in the header or footer.

4. Click the Insert tab on the Ribbon.

5. Click Quick Parts->Building Blocks Organizer.

6. Click the Category column to sort the categories.

7. Find the Page X of Y category and select a style you like.

8. Click Insert.

Hope that helps.

So what you want is the same table printed 300 times. To get numbering from 1 to 300 I suggest the best way, though it may seem a long way round, is simply to copy and paste the table 299 times then you have 300 pages which you can number, using the page number of pages format. You can use this merely for printing but then save only the original page so as not to take up unnecessary storage space.

Select [Insert --> Page Number] as you would normally do. Then select [View --> Header and Footer] If your page numbers are at the bottom, scroll down and click in the footer area, place your cursor just after the page number (which will have a box around it, stay INSIDE the box as this is the auto numbering area), then type " of 300". This will give you each auto page number and include the "of 300" you are looking for. This part is NOT automated, it stays as you type it, so if your page numbers are wrong, you COULD end up with "305 of 300" or "295 of 300"

Since this is in the Header and Footer area, the change will be applied to every page, and every page will still have the correct auto page number.

You can't change page numbers. Numbers are auto-generated in the order of the pages in that document from up to down.

Best option is to select 'Print current page' in the print settings and order them manually.
