I want to make a one inch margin in border in MS Word 2007 --- i tried it in page layout>page borders -- then the option for margin. i only see a 24 'pt' (?) margin and the maximum is 31 pt which is only about half an inch.

the value is only in 'pt' not in inches. now i want a 1 inch border margin. how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

Try this:

On that Border and Shading Options dialog box, change the "Measurement From" list box to Text, then set the border margins to 1 or 2 pixels.

Hope that helps.

I am not sure if I understand the question. Do you want a margin or a border? A margin is white space around text. A border is a line of some sort that surrounds an item.

If you are only seeing points (pt) in Page Layout > Margins then it is probably because the Word Options for measurements are set to Points rather than Inches. You can change that in the Advanced pane of the Word Options under Display.

If you want to have a thick border around an object, you are limited to the point sizes available in the drop down lists.

first set your margin line in the margins of the page layout and click the page border, then chose your border. After that click options and click measure from text.. and that s it.. so easy right!

Go to "Page Layout" the click "Page Borders" click "Box" then you can see an "options" bar on the lower left of page border, Click it then you can see there "Measure from" set it to "Text" and that's it.
