Making it from scratch means coding using HTML and CSS with any good HTML editor. Not the Visual Type editor, but some of the following allow both Visual and Source coding...

Editors:

1. Get a Domain Name - either from GoDaddy or Fasthost.co.uk.

2. Purchase the Web Hosting one. The Basic or Home Package should be sufficient enough.

3. Purchase Microsoft Expression Web 3 Trial. You would create your website their just as if you were creating a Presentation - it's really easy to use.

4. Save your Homepage as index.html, and all other sites by it's title. Save each page in 1 folder.

5. Download FileZilla. Login to your Web Host Provider, just like you would on their website, but with FileZilla.

6. Click the Folder that should be named either /Root or /Public_Html or similar. You'll understand what I mean when you download and use FileZilla.

7. Upload your Webpages into that folder.

8. You're done.

There is hundreds of free sources online that should help aid you. If you get stuck on any points of the above - then email me and I'll help you further. Microsoft Expression Web 3 is really, really easy for you - and does all the coding etc for you.

Another option you could take, is download a free template - then upload those files via FileZilla. There are hundreds and thousands of free web templates.

Hope that helps. If you do get stuck on any point, please do email me I'll be more than happy to provide assistance - however, I'm sure you'll find Microsoft Expression Web 3 really easy.

Its really not tough at all.

Some people or websites tend to make having a website more difficult than it seems.

You dont need to get a domain name first.

First you get your web host. They provide everything you need, including a FREE domain name.

They also give you great apps to create the website.

If this is your first time, I suggest using Wordpress. Its easy to use and gives you great results. All you do is pick a theme, and then plug in your information into little text boxes. The website will look very professional. Your host will supply Wordpress and all the help you need to get going.

Thats it. Get a web host.(about $45. a year) then create the site with Wordpress.

Good luck

Step 1

The First thing you'll need is a Site. Whether you want to start a Blog or Website, there are many offers avaliable, some Sites offer Free Blogs, Free websites--while others offer a Host of packages that you can purchase. A simple search on Yahoo, Google, or any search engine will yield many results. Determine what you want from your site--Personnel, or Business. How Elaborate do you want your Site? Usually the Free Websites do not have as many Bell's and Whistle"s as the ones you will purchase.

Step 2

BUILD IT!!!

Once you have your Website, you will have several Templates to choose from ( A template is what your Site will look like ). Most Programs have a simple Edit program designed to allow you to add Text, Images, Pictures, all kinds of goodies without the knowledge of HTML. You can have several pages dedicated to anything you want. You can change the content of your Site at any time---So don't be afraid to experiment with the Design and Content, until your Happy with your site.

You can create Button's, Bullet's, Widget's, place Video's on your Site, add Links--Place a Button on your Site that will send someone to your Blog or your Friends Site. As I stated --Don't be afraid to experiment---You can always change it!!!

Step 4

GET SEEN!!!

So, now you have this Site, Your own personal example of your work, informative and a Real Eye-Catcher. The problem is--Nobody knows your here.

There are several opinions written on the best ways to Promote your Site, and a simple search will come up with thousands of views. One could write Volumes on the Subject. I will give you some ideas, research them for more information.

Submit your Site to Search Engines, Read up on KEYWORDS, use Keywords relevant to your site.

Blogging--Blogging can have a nice impact on the traffic to your Site. Use your Blog to point people to your Website.

Articles--there are several Article Directories on the Web. I firmly believe that writing Articles is a great way to draw Traffic to one's Site--Your Reading This!!!!
