my office has microsoft works 6.0 that they were using with windows 95 (yikes!) and we just got new systems with windows vista and word 2007. can we convert the works documents to word documents without typing all of our master documents all over??

windows 2007 says it can convert the docs but when i follow the instructions, it doesn't work. is there some kind of software i'll need? if so then what is it?

THANKS

Select the works file.

Right click and select properties.

In properties, there should be an option for open with... select change.

select word 2007.

click okay and close out.

Double click on the file. It should open up in Word.

Save as a word file.

When you install Word, it should give you a choice of which documents it will support. Use the Advanced install to get all the options. It may be that your install of Word just doesn't have the Works converter installed.

Other options: If you still have a working copy of Works on an old computer. Open the documents in Works and save them in RTF format. Windows can read RTF documents.

Or try to find a 3rd party conversion software. Check Download.com, Tucows, or Majorgeeks.

First just try opening it in any pc with yikes then copy paste to ms word or word pad.

Try opening it in word pad or note pad. then copy paste to ms word 2007 or any where u like. If it doesnt work then try to open it in html browser with open with option when u right click. Works for me some time. If it dosnt work then Try googling for yikes to word converter.chances are that u may find any software.
