When I try to access my forum, it says that there is an Internal Server Error. I can't find how to fix the problem. Here's what my Error Log says:

[Tue Feb 19 20:47:57 2008] [error] [client 00.00.000.000] File does not exist: /home/zestos/public_html/500.shtml
[Tue Feb 19 20:47:57 2008] [error] [client 00.00.000.000] Premature end of script headers: /home/zestos/public_html/forum/index.php
SoftException in Application.cpp:238: File "/home/zestos/public_html/forum/index.php" is writeable by group

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? The site is: http://forum.angrygnome.co.uk or http://www.angrygnome.co.uk/forum

What forum are you using? I find that SMF is very good, and it integrates well in to other things like Joomla

Have you tried just reinstalling the forum? Uninstall it then reinstall it, often helps, especially if you have a windows server (though you REALLY shouldn't)

Try an automatic installation of SMF or something, really easy to do if you have cPanel, though if you are running your own server then you can just install it on your own...

Other than that, have a rake through the config file for bugs?

Hope that helps

Assuming that the database behind the forum is Mysql or similar, you should be able to make a dump or backup of the database before you uninstall then reinstall the forum software. Then after you have reinstalled the forum, you can restore the database and you should have everything back where it was. phpMyAdmin will let you dump to a file and then import that dump back into the database.

http://www.angrygnome.co.uk/forum/index.php

Has a problem.

Can you load a simpler index.php into that directory as a test? If that works, make sure the 500.shtml and related files are working.

Hint: File names may be case sensitive.

I use XAMPP as a localhost development system before uploading to the server.
