hi, I was looking at this list http://www.tdt3d.com/articles_viewer.php?art_id=99, scroll down you should see a table there, where are compared some 3d softwares including blender,, 3d max, maya, modo, lightwave..... And there it says 3d max modeling - excellent and blender - good, and I want to know, why 3d max modeling capabilities are mutch better then blender, because in blender to extrude you press E and you extrude, but in 3d max to extrude you press shift E and you have to drag the polygon and in blender you click E and that is it you don`t have to click on the polygon and drag it and you don`t even have to be on polygon mode. For scale in blender you click s and you scale, but in 3d max you click R and you have to press on those lines and drag them and there are tiny witch makes the process more dificult. And, what makes 3d max so great fo modeling then blender?

Blender is equally as good as Max but is not as professional minded as Max. Max is easier to use but you have to stop comparing the 2 when it comes to work flow. Max's shortcut keys are different but offers a much more simplistic way of doing things, giving it an easier workflow. Yes you CAN manually use the extrude with shortcut keys but if you convert your object into an editable poly (or mesh) there are options to use the extrude and use the mouse to extrude or put in the extrude amount your looking for. For the scale tool in Max all you need to do is use the shortcut key or the icon at the top of Max.

I think you should check out a few of the basic tutorials on how to use Max to get a better understanding on how to use the program. Blander and Max are 2 different programs made by 2 different companies. They will never be the same and comparing the button scheme will hold you back from excelling in Max. Approach Max as if you've never used a 3D program and you will be ok.

Hello,

I would not even go as far to say that Max is better than Blender.....what justifies better?

If you look at what each software does and compare the price, then which would you say is better for price? Blender = free & Max = thousands. But there is also performance to compare.

Truth be told that it is impossible to compare, because it is not only about what the software can do, it is also about the individual and what he / she prefers. The other truth is that Max is more widely used for commercial use and therefore is more of a standard in business, but in the end I chose Blender simply because it is free and I was able to practise my 3D skills that way. I also believe that once you get the hang of blender it is possible to model much more rapidly.

They are both excellent software........

fee could be of a few attention, yet whilst fee isn't the determining element... blender installs on greater structures without hardware dongle. in case you intend to .torrent Max, word the ping server that cracks the hardware dongle eats up a number of your cpu clock cycles. in case you have your heart set on Max, be constructive to virus test the obtain impressive in the previous and after installation.
