hello good day.

welcome to the world of internet...

Let me explain about the matter in detail. there are two services about a new website.

1. having a domain name example www.yourname.com

2. hosting it

the first one is related to opening and registring you website. means you have to pay monthly/yearly- now domain names are available at Rs.79/year also.

and the second one is hosting it is also a less cost service and any service will love to provide it.

you can register and host from the same website where you creat your account. some are yahoo, rediff etc... as they are cheap.

if you want to creat a free website then see below.

now lets come to real part... free part...

you now dont have to pay even for domain name or hosting i am giving some website address from which you can have your website free of cost..

<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>...

the first one is your yahoo itself..

1. http://geocities.yahoo.com/

click on the link and signin with your yahoo id and password and you may have your website as

eg. <>http://geocities.yahoo.com/youryahooid/index.html

the second one is

2. www.741.com

its also a free server which provides you the free website.

you can have website as yourname.741.com from this site.

rember that yousign in for freewebsite and chose like yourname.741.com else your site will not be created in www.741.com.

You can start easily with a web editor like front page 2000 or the popular free NVU. Then maybe start by signing up with a free host, e.g. Netfirms Basic from http://www.netfirms.com/ or the popular http://www.110mb.com/ Many free hosts have their own free web editors.

Perhaps download and use a free template from one of many templates web sites, e.g. http://www.steves-templates.com/ then up load your site to your host (use a free FTP program to upload your site - e.g. core FTP). Then you can promote it in forums, search engines, directories, etc, if you want.

You could start with a blog as well, e.g. try the Google’s blogger, or use the simple Google Page Creator (You need a Gmail account) - easy to set up for a beginner.

Later on though, it might pay to learn html/JavaScript/PHP etc, which allows more flexibility to design and modify your web site. Then maybe upgrade to a paid host and domain, which will possibly yield more features (scripting, bandwidth, increased storage space, email accounts, etc) and more ownership of your site...

Hello,

If you want to make a site to apply for jobs...I suggest you not to go with FREE stuff.

Be professional by getting your own domain name and space to host your resume, biodata and your works etc.

yourname@yoursite.com will be more professional than yourname@gmail.com or something else..

If you don't know how to design and host the website, try using website builder which will help you in getting your complete portfolio online..

check this awesome website builder

go to freewebs.com

it is free.

Don't go to geocites.com cause it doesn't work on most computers.

Good Luck!

You do not need to make a website for your resume.

Try workspace.careerbuilder.com, you can also post a video resume.

All you have to do is use Microsoft Publisher. It makes the process very easy and I love it.

There are lots of places where you can create a free website - www.freewebs.com - is one of the better ones I think. and there is www.geocities.com or www.angelfire.com... etc.

The problem with free websites is there will always be advertising on your site. Nothing is free and they use the advertising on your site to pay for their service to you. That and you won't be able to have your own domain name.

It's not very expensive and quite easy to buy a domain and set up hosting. I do it all the time, it's about 22 bucks a year. Buy a domain name of your choice at www.godaddy.com ($10.00 - one year registration) then set up hosting at www.lrehosting.com ($12.00 - one year of hosting). This way you have a personalized domain, full control over your website, no 3rd party advertising...
