Certain installed fonts don't appear in the Font menu (Adobe applications)
Solution 1: Look for the font by its PostScript or outline name.
Look for the font by its PostScript or outline name. PostScript font names often begin with the developer name (for example, ITC, MT, ICG). For example, the PostScript name for Stone Sans is ITC Stone Sans. In some cases the PostScript name differs dramatically from the font name. For example, the PostScript name for Neutesk LT is Din Schriften.
Solution 2: Look for the font near the bottom of the font menu.
If the font is a non-western font (for example, a Japanese or Cyrillic font, or a font that is incorrectly labeled as non-western) Adobe applications will list it near the bottom of the font menu in a separate font list section for fonts of that type.
Solution 3: Choose the font from the Font pop-up menu and the style from the menu to the right of the Font menu.
If you are looking for a font style, such as Minion Bold Condensed, choose the font (for example, Minion) from the Font pop-up menu, and then choose the style (for example, Bold Condensed) from the menu to the right of the Font menu.
Solution 4: Install the latest version of the Adobe application.
Install the latest update of the Adobe application. Updates are usually available free of charge from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/support/downloads/ . Upgrades are available from the Adobe Store at http://store.adobe.com/store/ .
Solution 5: Use Adobe Illustrator 9.0 or later or Adobe Photoshop 6.0 or later for OpenType fonts.
If you are looking for an OpenType font from Adobe in Illustrator or Photoshop, use Illustrator 9.0 or later or Photoshop 6.0 or later. For upgrade information, visit the Adobe website at http://store.adobe.com/store/ .
Note: OpenType fonts from Adobe are compatible with the following Adobe applications: Adobe InDesign 1.0 or later, Illustrator 9.0 or later, and Photoshop 6.0 or later.
Solution 6: Reduce the numer of installed fonts and check for damaged fonts.
Reduce the number of installed fonts, check for damaged fonts, or both. For instructions, see document 327791 , "Troubleshoot font problems (Mac OS X)," 328527 , "Troubleshoot font problems (Mac OS 8.0-9.x)," or 328607 , "Troubleshoot font problems (Windows)."
Solution 7: Create a shortcut (Windows) oran alias (Mac OS) for the missing fonts.
Close the application and then do one of the following:
-- In Windows, place a shortcut for each missing font in the Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts folder.
-- In Mac OS, place an alias for each missing font in the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts folder (Mac OS X) or in the System Folder/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts folder (Mac OS 9.x).
Solution 8: Make sure that outline and bitmap files for each Type 1 font are installed in the same location. (Mac OS)
If you use Mac OS, make sure that the outline and bitmap files for each Type 1 (PostScript) font are installed in the same location. Typically, these files are stored in font suitcases in the following folders:
-- In Mac OS X, the Library/Fonts folder or the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts folder
-- In Mac OS 9.x, the System Folder/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts folder
Note: If you installed fonts in other folders using a font management utility (for example, Adobe Type Manger, Extensis Suitcase), you must also check those folders for font outline and bitmap files.
Solution 9: Choose the multiple master base font from the Font pop-up menu, and the multiple master instance from the Style pop-up menu.
If the font is a multiple master instance, choose the multiple master base font (for example, Myriad MM) from the Font pop-up menu, and then choose the multiple master instance (for example, Myriad MM wt_802) from the Style pop-up menu.
Solution 10: Delete Adobefnt.lst files.
Search your system drive for "Adobefnt*.lst" to find all Adobe CoolType font list files (for example, Adobefnt05.lst, Adobefnt10.lst) . Delete all found files, and then restart the Adobe application.
Solution 11: Remove and reinstall missing fonts.
Remove and reinstall the missing font from its original installation media.
Solution 12: Contact the font developer for the latest version of the font.
