How to convert a "Jpg.hqx" file into a "JPEG" file in windows XP?

im a windows xp user and when i compress a file it says
"something something binhex 4.0" what the hell is binhex and will it work
i need link
(sorry for the something something part i cant remember what it says)

I think you can open the file and save it as a different format.
