CS3 works on Wine in Linux, but not CS4.

You can't run a program in Wine that is installed in your XP parttition, you need to install it using Wine IN LINUX.

CS3 is listed as a Silver application in Wine - CS4 is listed as "garbage"

Anyway, why do you need it. GIMP works better on Linux than Photoshop, and GIMP can do 99% of the same stuff.

I don't think CS4 can run on Linux. I think only CS2 can.

So you can only run CS4 on a windows OS.

the objective of VMware is to allow you to place in a 2d working equipment applying the unfastened digital field, as an occasion, to place in an entire, legal version of residing house windows. This step is needed. Then, you are able to installation any residing house windows App you desire on the visualized residing house windows OS. You sound such as you do not understand the "installation a legal residing house windows" section.
