Has anyone here used mod_rewrite and .htaccess file application in changing his/her domain name? If yes, were there any problems encountered? What were they and how did you tackle them successfully?

No problems with it, I use this tutorial every time I do though (I'm forgetful... :D) http://www.tamingthebeast.net/articles3/spiders-301-redirect.htm . Just scroll down to .htaccess redirect for dynamic pages.

You can't use either to change your domain name. The two are used to handle requests to the server. In simple, you can use .htaccess to write a script for the server to use when handing specific requests. Mod_rewrite is one of the tools used with .htaccess. One my favorite uses of the two is the ability to handle PHP's $GET. I learned how to use the two by googling up tutorials.

it could take 24 hours or greater for a DNS substitute to propagate around the internet. as quickly as the substitute reaches you pc, you will see the hot cyber web internet site. you do no longer might desire to do something with the previous server. as quickly as your DNS substitute has propagated, the previous server turns into invisible (till you kind its numeric IP address right this moment).
