How to transfer file using ftp command line?

what i need to know is where the file you want to transfer needs to be. i am in the directory i want to put it in, but when i use the "put xxxxx.pdf" command it tells me file not found. where does the file i want to transfer need to be? i currently have it in my documents

note that you have to know where you are on two systems -- the remote location and the local system. from the error it appears that your local location is not correct. you can run these commands to find out:

lls - list local directory

lcd - change local directory

lpwd - show local working directory



if you are in your home directory,

lls

to see if the xxxxx.pdf is there



lcd Documents

to change to your Documents directory then you can try putting again
