Why cant I download Java?

Hello, I am trying to download Java. At www.java.com. Well, a window pops up and says open or save. It does not say run to install. I am trying to download Java and just can not. What do I do? Help!

Try clicking on the manual download link and select the correct operating system. They also have a link to see if your browser supports automatic installation.

That IS the installer, you can either open it, it will then ask you permission to run, or save it somewhere on your computer to run later.
