I just want to make it clear I have no intention of making a website like facebook or myspace but Im just interested in sites like these as I do a lot of graphic design which I taught myself.
Anyway!
I was just wondering, I know certain codes and things like this but where would one get hosted for things like this?
I am friends with someone who runs a hosting site but im not sure if they'd be able to handle it (the server amount) so where would you start out? Would any host be able to hold it as long as you continued to buy servers from them?

Thanks!

Websites like Facebook, Myspace, Google and Yahoo are all Database Driven Websites, you type in search term or query as it called in Databases and the database finds all the information matching your search. All of the above websites own there own servers and rent line connections from companies. The servers are massive in size and will fill entire rooms if not more, the amount of data you could store on them is emense. However, making a website like Facebook takes allot of work and the scripting is a big job, i wrote my own social network about 2 months ago and i'm still finding little errors to sort, keeping in mind my website is no where near as complex as facebook. You can buy hosting with Unlimited bandwidth from several companies and just upgrade the size required as your site gets more and more busy. http://www.one.com/ is who im with at the moment, very cheap and reliable.

Making a website like facebook or myspace is not a simple task. You should know more coding and you should have more servers as your community grows up. There are scripts available in built in package to use with the community websites. You can just upload the script package to your server and just install it and you can have your community website.

Also there are hosting providers like freesite2you which have their built in script install where you can install the community script to your hosting. It is best suggested to try with the free hosting site like freesite2you by installing your community script in your hosting space. You can install your community script in your Cpanel of hosting account. If you wish to continue your website after trying for free, you can just upgrade your website.

Using the Facebook Power Editor is a good idea; Jon Roomer can tell. Visit https://bestsocialplan.com

First, you have to purchase web hosting. Go for an established and reliable web host such as the ones recommended on http://buywebspacetoday.com/ and sign up for a shared hosting (regular hosting) plan, as it's the most affordable type of hosting and has all the features you need for a typical website.

If you have used Facebook with any frequency, then you have likely run into both the fan page like and the web page like. ttps://bestsocialplan.com

As long as you paid them enough, and they were close enough to the internet backbone that they could buy enough bandwidth, they could host the site. (Anyone hosting FB would be retired, except for that one customer. Of course a site like that hosts themselves, they don't buy hosting.)
