Question:
Is making a file hosting site worth the trouble?

I'm thinking about making my own file hosting site (php/mysql && ftp access) but i was wondering if it is worth the trouble. A few concerns.

How expensive is the bandwidth? Like 150,000 users * 5gb cap = 750000GB and figuring in they will delete and re-upload certain data on top of that.

All so am I responsible if they upload illegal pornography or pirated software? Even if I state it is against the rules and that there account will be deleted if found out?

unless you have you own data center. It might not worth the trouble. Problem is it is really hard to earn money with free file hosting.

The two income source are user clicking ads or they sign up for premium service. Those big file hosting company all have their own data center to their bandwidth is a lot cheaper. That's how they offer service in such low price. It is really hard to crack into the market

Just google megaupload. While Kim dotcom escape this time. Many file hosting just close the business to avoid lawsuit

Not a very original idea!

Watch the courts to see if you would be held responsible for the upload of pirated films, software and pornos, current thinking is that eventually they would get you!

As to cost, Megabucks! if the content is good your figures are a fraction of the final result, mind you if you charge a modest fee as most sites like this do you will also earn a fair amount but spending years behind bars is the downside!

Unlimited bandwidth sites are a advertising fiction! You will be closed down if you try this operation on one! You will need your own building full of top quality servers, power supply, dedicated lines and a vast support staff - get your check book out!

Search Megaupload to see what could happen to you!

You should get Unlimited Bandwidth for your Website.

You are not responsible for any illegal pornography or pirated software. You just need to delete the file which is related to illegal pornography or pirated software or Disable their account.

Megaupload was closed by FBI because they did not check any illegal activity.

Make a Nice File Hosting Site
