The K&R is the "C bible" written by the guys who wrote the language: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_C_Programming_Language_(book). It's a good reference, but not designed to teach the language. I like the Sams serious of books -- specifically the "Teach yourself X in 24 days" books. I really don't think there;s been many changes to C in a very long time, so I would try an older book which you can probably get for $3 somewhere.

learn c++ at first c isn't usual and nice it's demode
and it's older programing lang but c++ is very nice and usefull
