Question:
Accidently de-installed mozilla firefox. How to get back the lost favourites?

Some of my friend accidently deleted mozilla firefox, therefore all the favourites got lost too. We tried to do a system restore but the files could not be found. I've wondered if there was a folder somewhere in the computer where the favourites might have been saved, though the program got de-installed. Browsing through the history would take too long to add back all the links. Does anyone know how to restore them?

as far as i know, favorites are not included in the uninstall. only the program itself is uninstalled. but if you reinstall the program again it will be returned. hope it helps.

I'm on Windows Vista. My Firefox seems to store some bookmark backups at the following location:

C:\ Users\ [my name]\ AppData\ Roaming\ Mozilla\ Firefox\ Profiles\ 3v2m3epu.default\ bookmarkbackups

Try checking the corresponding directory on your machine and see if there's anything there. I'm not sure whether this stuff would be removed if Firefox were uninstalled; it would probably depend on the mode of uninstallation and there is a fairly good chance that it is preserved. Once you have the file, you can import it into any other copy of Firefox. You may need to set your machine to show hidden folders in order to see all the directories on the above path. It is advisable to look soon; my system only seems to be storing backups for the past five days, so past that you may lose any guarantee of preserving them.
