Hello there...
Can U tell me about how to get started i arificial intelligence programming ...
after 3 days of thorough googling All I came to know is Lisp is one of those languages prefered in artificial intelligence programs...
but how ??? so here is All I want to know 4m U -->
>From where to get Lisp setup ...
>is there only single file to install like in TC or it is like java , that JDk
JrE & all that
{all i got is gcl.exe, .emacs but i'm confused about its installation}
>where i can I get best tutorials of lisp related to AI.
>& please tell me details of installation like setting path or something...
>> And Last HOW should I begin..

for learining artificial intelligence u must have good knowledge of parsing and lexical analysis n ol..dat u can learn in theory of computing...then only u can start with Programming part. there are several parts in AI on which u can work on

Pick up a copy of Peter Norvig's "Paradigms of Artificial Intelligence" book, and a free common lisp, such as LispWorks Personal (www.lispworks.com).



Lispworks will come with an installer, has a full IDE, and a very complete set of online documents even with the free version. Then start working through the book...



Supplemental material might include Russell and Norvig's Artificial Intelligence book, comp.lang.lisp, or an undergraduate level class on the subject.



There are many areas in AI. the Norvig Lisp book will give a good foundation for several, but isn't going to get you into some of the more statistical stuff, vision, etc. But you have to start somewhere, and the Russell & Norvig approach will take you down the path of building artificial agents which is a core technical approach to AI.

Lisp is like any other compiler language. You just need the compiler and a text editor. Its more of a relational language though. It was used in the 80's for effort in AI though.



Honestly though, Lisp is a bit in the past. If you're really into AI, stay with Java and try some Genetic Algorithms, Simulated Annealing, Neural Network stuff.



The actual idea of AI has not been invented yet, but the list above offers the concepts of learning and remembering to get a better solution.
