I can't simply check the "Use Windows Colors" box, and there are no "Ignore font styles/colors" checked either. How do I change the color scheme and style back to its original?

I'm not sure what exactly you mean, but I think I have an idea. Follow these steps below.

1.Click on the "Start" icon and choose "Control Panel."

2.Click on the "Control Panel Home" text link, which will launch a new window.

3. Click on the "Customize colors" link located under the Appearance and Personalization option.

4.Select a theme to use for all opened windows, including Internet Explorer. Click on the theme of your choice.

5.Click on the "Advanced" button to edit colors.

6.Click on the "Item" drop-down list. Color choices will appear each time you select an item to customize.

7.Click on the "Active Window Border" and click on the "Color 1" drop down menu.

8.Choose a basic Windows color from the swatches menu. Click on "Other" to customize the color choice.

9.Select the "Menu" item from the drop down list. Click on "Color 1" to choose the new toolbar color. Use "Other" to choose a custom color.

10.Move the black arrow on the right side to select the color darkness. Move the swatch icon around the color display to pick a color.

11.Click on "OK" once the new toolbar color has been chosen. This will close the color swatch window.

12.Click on "OK" to exit the theme picker window.

13.Click on "Apply" to confirm the new toolbar color and close the window.

14. Open up a new Internet Explorer web browser window to see your new toolbar color.

Why not just reset?

Tools=>Internet Options=>Advanced then click on reset.
