Un-merging layers in photoshop.?

I have created an image with several layers merge them, saved and closed the file.

Is there anyway i can unmerge them?

NOPE, which is why you should NEVER merge photoshop layers... if you absolutely have to so that you can save space for emailing or uploading somewhere, ALWAYS save an original UNMERGED PSD file, you'll love yourself later for doing it, and if the file needs to be altered or changed, go to the original unmerged file and make your changes there, save that file, then merge the layers and save your compressed PSD file (with a different name of course).



Oh well we all learn our lessons the hard way sometimes, I've been there.

I havn't got photoshop but have something very similar and once you've 'flattened' the image your cannot separate them again. usually when I am working with layers I save two files, one that just the program will read, thus keeping the layers and the other a flattened more manageble image i.e Jpeg

I am not 100% sure whether photoshop will work the same but I am guessing that it does
?

If you only want to merge certain layers, you can make the ones that you don't want to merge invisible (with the "eye" on the layer palette) and then use Merge Visible. Merge Layers just merges all of them.
