I'm really new to web hosting etc.... I've just made an account with FatCow web hosting, and is it correct that they tag their name on the end of your domain? eg, www.mydomain.fatcow.com.au...? Like, what?! I don't want fatcow on the end of my domain! Am I doing something wrong?

Also, could someone could recommend good, reliable email hosting? ie. myname@mydomain

I recommend you purchased your own domain name. You can purchase domain name at godaddy.com at cheap rates. Then you can opt to not to used your free domain in fatcow, use instead the domain you have purchased.
