Visual Basic is a third-generation event driven programming

language. It's deprived from BASIC and enables the rapid

application development (RAD) of graphical interfaces (GUI),

access to databases (such as MySQL), and creating of ActiveX

controls and objects.

Visual Basic.NET is simply a "Beefedup" version of VB. It requires

the .NET runtime and contains a lot of improved functions and

system handlers which help optimize application performance.

Programmers and Developers are always in need of the best

of the best for everything from Editors (Visual Studio series) to

the actual code which they're coding in. (BASIC, VB, VB.NET)

VB.Net can't be considered a separate programming language

than VB, but more like VB on steroids.
