In college my Teacher told me - "UNIX is Religion. UNIX is Philosophy.". I want to learn about UNIX. Somebody please enlighten me about this.

No, it is not a religion, nor a philosophy. As said above, it is just a computer opeating system.

However, it was one of the first and best developed. It is STILL one of the most powerful OS on the market. It outways Windows by hundreds of miles.

To approach and learn Unix, you need to have the "right mind" (hence, maybe "philosophy"), and do things exactly as you are told to do (hence, maybe "Religion": you do not ask "why": you must have "Faith")

I think your teacher have no knowledge of computer and their function . UNIX is not Religion , UNIX is not Philosophy .

UNIX is an operating system through which we operate any program . example of operating systems is

WINDOW XP, WINDOW 7, LINUX, UNIX, WINDOW VISTA and etc.

Unix is the working equipment, like maximum folk use homestead windows. uncertain what Dell's refrence is approximately even however i think they permit Unix now besides. you be attentive to maximum folk don't get something different the homestead windows, so proably meant to be somebody who does not get UNIX.
