Hello. I have recently changed to Ubuntu 10.04, on my old Windows Vista, I had Sony Vegas 8. I tried to install/download onto Ubuntu but it isn't compatible. I also tried downloading Wine, (the latest version), though that hasn't helped much either. I have come here to ask for an alternative to Sony Vegas.

This is what I'm looking for:
-It has to let me be able to enter text before,in between, and after clips/scenes.
-I can add music in video
-Transitions
-Credits Included

Is there one that can function like a Windows Movie Maker? Please help.

Try:

Kdenlive:

Or:

Cinelerra:

I loved Kdenlive when I used Linux. Had a few bugs but I think that was related to my hardware.

Many Software packages have not been ported to Linux, that is unfortunate, and many times the new Linux users do not take the time to notify the authors/distributer of specific software enough that you want a Linux version.

Congratulation in making a move to Linux, there are so many timid computer users that are afraid to reinstall their current operating system, or think about learning an alternative operating system with different software that is lower on the malware/trojan radar...

Did you try a liveCD before installing the new operating system?

Below is a link that might help you locate a Linux alternative, none of them are going to be "Sony Vegas" a polished commercial program, that should be ported to Linux, maybe in the future.
