When I try to view a file in dreamweaver that is o a remote server, DW returns the following message:

/public_html/index.php - error occurred - An FTP error occurred - cannot get index.php. Access Denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem.

I can connect to the remote server, but cannot view or edit any of the files. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

Thanks.

Try the following:

1. Restart your DW (it crashes sometimes)

2. Restart your Computer (make sure it's not a OS issue)

3. Try connecting to your web server via a different FTP Client, goto:

There is a java ftp client that will allow you to connect to your web server. Just input your server info, user and pass.

If you can connect, then it's probably your DW... try reparing the software - and if that fails, backup your sites and reinstall.

verify the FTP works first of all. Use some thing like FileZilla to objective the relationship. If it quite works there then it is going to on Dreamweaver. If that's reporting that it can't discover the host then likely the FTP server handle is incorrect
