PC's are cheaper and more open. Plus many jobs and schools require people to use PC's.

I recently switched to Mac and I don't plan on going back to PC. Unless Apple goes under, but I see why people don't switch. Mac's are more expensive and you then need to buy your software over again. I do video production for a living and when I switched it cost me 4K for my Mac Pro, and I had to spend over 3K to get the Mac versions of my most used software.

Mac also has a problem with arrogance. I love their computers but the company has an upturned nose towards the public. They need to just show people why Mac is better and stop running ads criticizing the competition. It just makes PC owners more anti-mac when they come on and basically call you an idiot for buying a PC.

Industry Standard is still PCs.

There are systems that were designed 15 years ago and that work just fine under the windows world. So why would a company pay $600 for 100 new computers and lose $60,000 when they can keep with windows?

I do not understand what you claim about the money?

PCs are generally cheaper than a MAC system. You can get a new nice $450 computer that can everything but gaming.

Also PC does have more utilities and apps than a MAC.

The mac is catching up though that it went to a unix kernel i do believe they will pull a larger share of the market but slowly over time.

MACs are nice and they have their uses. They are truely catching up, but a PC is much much more changable and flexable.

I view MACs a concel of the computer world. Like an xbox or PS2. If a part breaks there aint much you can to fix it yourself. It is standalone if you can only use parts that are made for JUST that.

In the computer world it used to be like that, i remember with AMD and IMB and intel and everything.

There was once a day when a mouse could only work with a certain type of CPU..... now it is all mixable!

To all those that will claim MACs do not get viruses, just you wait, at first IBM machines didnt have viruses but they got them after they got popular.

Just a matter of time till viruses get mass produced for MACs

Macs don't work better.

Macs are not less likely to fail.

Macs cannot do everything a Windows PC can do (unless you install Windows on the Mac).

And Macs are expensive.

So, to answer your question, there are several reasons people choose Windows PCs over Macs:

1. They may not have that much money to spend. You can get an entry-level PC laptop for US$500. The cheapest Mac laptop is US$999

2. They may need Windows-only programs like Solidworks or AutoCAD, and they may not have the money to buy those programs in addition to buying a Mac computer and an extra Windows license to set Windows up in boot camp. And, really, if you're going to be running Windows anyways, why not just get a computer that comes with Windows?

3. They may actually prefer Windows. Gasp! Shock! Really. I don't prefer Windows personally, but some people do, and you should respect their choices and preferences.

4. And, as I said before, all of your assertions that Macs "work better" or are "less likely to fail" have no basis in reality. Macs use exactly the same internal hardware that Windows PCs use. Exactly the same.

A better question would be "Why do people like to argue over whether Mac OS X or Windows is better?" Why not just use what you want to use and let other people use what they want to use?

Well I don't know about you but Windows can do everything that a Mac can do. I know because I have both. OS X may be more elegant but Windows has more support. PC's are much cheaper. I've never had a problem with Parts going out on PC's. If they do it's a simple issue of buying from a variety of parts. What happens when your elegant mac breaks. Well it's a huge inconvenience. I can buy 2 PC's for the cost of 1 mac. Mac may be more elegant but if you just want to get something done. A PC works.

You get more for the money. New processor is coming out every 2 years and only Mac Pro ($3500) is upgradable. Everything else gets outdated in 2 years.

iMac is locked into using single video card, monitor. If you want a bigger monitor, you would be SOL with iMac. Mac Mini is crap, only good for surfing the web.

The only good usable MAC is Mac pro, but even if you get one, PC or even SUN workstation will be cheaper and faster. Only marketing lead Mac has over PC is the Operating System.

I would have a Mac, but the price is too high. It's also easier to find software for PC. I really love Mac I would choose it over PC if all else was equal.

Go to work at a place managed by a Mac 'expert'. The supervisor is usually such a computer illiterate that everything works halfway. Nobody has the authority or the acumen to fix the hodgepodge of incompatibilities between the Mac generations networked together. I remember my big blue box ... G1 ?? would not shut down. Pull the plug to end the shift. Macs are s-l-o-w-w-w. I know that. I was there with the orignal 128K Mac thinking hardware prevented Microsoft from engineering anything comparable. (No, Silicon valley made an illegal monopoly agreement amongst themselves).

Most people prefer pc because

1. It already has mjor marketshare so its popular so others use it from seeing it all the time

2. The price range

3. Using Mac OS kinda ensures that you have to use hardware from apple. the pc allows you more freedom

Because a PC is cheaper and runs industry standard applications which most businesses use. Many programs are incompatible with a MAC.

It's just a preference, plus it is cheaper. I however prefer a mac because most editing programs I need is only available on a Mac.

Mac for the win, without a doubt.

The only people who choose PC over Mac are people who have not tried with Mac.

I've used both and Mac is soooooo much better :)

Because Macs fail.
