Can I upload a website already created straight to Dreamweaver or PLESK?

Hi I paid for a website to be professionally built a while ago but when I stopped offering these services I got the hosting company to take it off line and provide me with the files. The files were originally held on the PLESK system and they were given to me in as a zipped folder. I now want to start using the website again with the same functionality can I simply unzip these files into Dreamweaver or PLESK? Is there an easy way to do this? Will they just run as initially created or is it going to be complicated for myself who is not really that web design literate to get it working again?

Look at the files via Explorer after unzipping and see if they contain the same names and extensions as your original site. If they do, then get a separate FTP program and drag/drop the entire root directory and all folders files at once onto the remove server window which should be showing the public_html or root folder. It could take several hours to get all files uploaded. Especially if you have images and videos. Or, you might feel more comfortable loading a few at a time.

The only problem with a functional site is if you had server-side scripts and databases. These may have to be set up again with the correct paths in the config files.

If you are not familiar with any web software you might have some trouble.. But you can unzip the file and DW will recognize it.

Consider getting a DW for Dummies book. Make sure you keep a copy of your original zip file.

PLESK is only on web sites. It is a control panel program.

the host directory is usually labeled as www/htdocs/or public_html this is just the folder your host has defined to contain your website. It is usually one of the top 3 or you might just leave it blank depending on the host
