how to extract text from photo?

some one send me a picture and there is a text in it ... and i can't make it out, is there anyway to extract it or improve the visibility of the text....please let me know.. i have tried GIMP, I have tired the "turn you photo into .tiff" method... and nothing ... so please let me know thank you

Firefox has an image zoom add-on which will enlarge an image in its window.

Free-ORC is web application that can recognize and extract text from image file such as scanned documents, photographs or digital camera captured pictures. Extracted text will be presented as plain text.



The application currently supports a PDF, JPG, GIF, TIFF, BMP or PNG files and can recognize 6 languages (English, German, french, Italian, Dutch and Spanish).

If you are using microsoft office 2007. there is a program microsoft Onenote. Paste photo in onenote and right click on it and copy text from picture.

i'm not aware there is a program as you've specified.

Upload the image, maybe one of us can make out the text?
