I need to create flash videos and put them onto my website, but would like to have the same, or very similar video outputs as the ones on the BBC website (Which overlays a "Click to play" button over the video), AND a screenshot of a part in the video.

P.S. (I dont want to use youtube).

Thanks!

Video Creation Options:

1) If you have already recorded a video and want to convert it to flv:

- Do it online: http://media-convert.com/

- Do it offline (software download): http://www.rivavx.de/index.php?encoder&L=3 (this is a free software)

2) You might have received a media software with your webcam or handycam that may allow you to convert from one format to the other.

3) If you are looking to make a demo or any other kind of screen capture video you may want to look at CamStudio: http://camstudio.org/ This has some limited features but for personal use I think it does the good job. It will record in .avi by-default so you can use tip-1 to convert or use tip-2 of Players to do that.

4) One of the easiest ways you can convert your video file (non flv files) in flv is to upload your file to youtube and it will render the file and create a flv file (however you may loose some quality). Than go to http://keepvid.com/ and provide your video url to download your file in .flv format. (if you have your self hosting than use tip#1 of players)

Video Player Options:

1) If you have your own hosting than you may want to look at:

- JW FLV Media Player: http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-flv-player/

2) If you do not have your own media hosting capability for your site/blog than you may want to use public hosting and embed your video to your site:

- Viddler (allows to add your logo in the player): http://www.viddler.com/

- Blip.tv (this player supports wide range of audio/video files): http://blip.tv/

(above two are my personal favorite)

- Vimeo (If you have HD video, vimeo has one of the best HD support): http://www.vimeo.com/

- Wizzard (geekbrief.tv uses this player): http://wizzard.tv/

All above services are free. Hope this helps.

Flash has a default video streaming menu, just import the video display component from the components panel or just go to file>import>import video.
