ASP: Microsoft offers new Office Live promo for free domain name, free hosting, free website for 1 year.

The next year you'll be able to cancel it, or renew it for $14.95

Linux: "Get 500GB of web space with 5TB of traffic plus 2 (or 1) FREE domains registration for less than $70 ($60) for one full year at our favorite Dreamhost.com. By using one of our exclusive promo codes "ANSWERABILITY" or "60OFF120"...."

Dreamhost is also my favorite.... I've been with them for 6 years (and changed 4-5 providers before that.)

Stay away from 1and1!

Begin with setting up your own webpage as your current internet provider will provide free hosting as discussed below.

If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a "homepage" which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. And if you use the Netscape browser, the built-in Composer feature is a superior HTML authoring tool which is totally free. You can easily generate a full-blown website as a Homepage.

Nevertheless, the "homepage" URL is likely to be "http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscribe... name" and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., "mydomain.com" which allows you to link any registered domain name to "mask" another website. For example, should you type in the "domain name," you will be immediately transported to the homepage and the hompage URL of http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber... a homepage URL which will be masked by the domain name. And the charge for the redirection service [even at godaddy.com] is normally FREE.

When you acquire a domain name, connect it using a redirection service [as discussed above] and submit/publish the domain name on major search engines/directories in order for Net surfers to find your website.

Good luck!

Wow, all of these answers seem so confusing. Let me lay it out for you. Follow me step by step and you'll have THE BEST hosting for less than $6/month. Hostmonster is garbage, BTW.

1. What you'll need is a domain name. Go over to http://AletiaNIC.com and register for a domain name. You can see what's already available and what you can register. They'll also give you recommendations if your domain name is taken. Their pricing is awesome...about $10 for a whole year!

Then you're going to need hosting. And I've found (from personal experience) that JaguarPC is TOP-NOTCH.

2. For your site, you'll just need the shared hosting (GIGADEAL) -- here's the link --- http://smallurl.co.uk/?3765 ----but wait, there's more. Register today (or until April 31th) and you can use this coupon code == "endless2008" and receive 15% off the monthly price, FOR LIFE!

Good luck in all of your endeavors and if you need help, email me at virtual134@gmail.com

startlogic and yahoo cover the domain cost, that is a minimal fee. What you should look for is the cheapest provider (startlogic is the cheapest I have found), or the largest data provider (Yahoo web hosting offers unlimited space+bandwidth)

Hi,

Lots of hosting providers that come with free domain for their packages.

One of the nice ones are the one from Exabytes. Their EBiz Gold plan which comes with free life time domain.

Currently, they are having their 7th anniversary promotion which has special discount on their EBiz Gold. Plus, you get FREE life time domain.

Check it here: http://www.exabytes.com.my/products/hosting/linux/

If you are willing to learn HTML I would suggest ATSPACE.COM. You can create a website for FREE up to 50MBs in size. I have two websites through them and the uptime is great. NO ADS, NO BANNERS. You'll need an ftp program to upload your stuff. There's a good free one for personal use called "FTP Explorer". Of course you'll either need to learn HTML or use one of the WYSIWYG programs like FrontPage or DreamWeaver to actually design your site. e-mail me if you need some help...

If you want your own domain and have it hosted, I suggest ReadyHosting. You get 100GB of space unlimted e-mail accounts, FTP access and domain name registration all for $99 a year.

Web hosting site (FREE):

Web hosting site (COST):

Inexpensive Domain Name Registration:

FTP Explorer site:

A couple of my websites:

My Son's Travel Team's Website (ATSpace.com - FREE)

Always, always buy your domain name separately to prevent any questions of ownership, and to make it possible to move your domain anywhere at will. You can register the domain name for less than $10 per year, which is a fraction of the price you'll pay for a good web host.

Right now I'm helping a client who is having trouble moving their web site because their old hosting service included the domain name as part of the package, and the customer lost access to the domain name's control panel when they stopped paying their server bill. The hosting service is being very uncooperative.

Low-cost and/or free web hosting come with a long list of negatives.

You'll share a server with thousands of other sites, you'll have limited access to bandwidth, CPU and other shared components and, most importantly, low-ballers can pack up in the middle of the night taking your site and your customer database with them.

You can get quality, shared hosting for about $7.00 a month at websitesource.com. I've been with them for over a year. No problems.

Avoid cutting too many corners on web hosting. Your web host is your online partner so choose wisely, and best of luck.

There is no such thing as free lunch, it says. Free hosting will take advantage of you one way or another and they might sell your info or will sell ad space on your webpages. They are also not as reliable as paid ones.

When I started building websites, I was confused which web hosting to go for. Now I am clear about which web hosting provider is good and reliable. For your information concerned with choosing web hosting, I have selected top web hosting providers.

Compare the hosting providers.

Be sure to do your research... consider going through a site like http://www.webhostgumbo.com where you can compare the web hosting companies out there. Make sure you go through the companies that have free for life domains! You will be the owner of it, just make sure you get it in writing to ward off any worries of ownership. but it shouldnt be a problem. hope i could help out. and good luck with your site. feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
