I have a website which shows listings this way:

http://www.domain.com/12345/

I wanted to have the URL:
http://www.domain.com/text-word-here-12345/

I was able to redirect the pages using javascript to the desired url but would like to have WordPress fetch the listing on the original URL.

How am I able to do that using .htaccess?
I think .htaccess would be the only way, but I can't seem to make anything work, I have been searching for examples but even the most simple example do not work for me.

Did you look under your permalinks section of wordpress? Did you click the link in that section that takes you to more permalink options? This should be doable from right within the wordpress backend.

I would also ask in the wordpress.org forums.

From the horses mouth! there are circumstances once you want to bypass WordPress round interior your server, and circumstances once you want to bypass WordPress from one server to a unique. you do not favor to reinstall. WordPress is versatile adequate to address all of those circumstances. consumer-friendly answer for most installations: * If database and URL continues to be an identical, you could go by in simple terms copying your information and database. * If database call or consumer differences, edit wp-config.Hypertext Preprocessor to have the acceptable values.

Make sure you have the .htaccess file in the root folder of your WP installation

1. Go to WP Dashboard

2. Go to Settings -> permalinks

3. Update Permalinks
