First you'll need to get a web hosting service, I like http://quicky-hosting.com. You'll need one to host a website and to upload scripts you developed like ASP.NET, HTML or PHP. You will also need a domain name, (A name of your website, like google.com) most web hosts will provide you with one if you ask for one during purchase.

Then you'll need to get a free shopping cart like oscommerce or cubecart most web hosting services provide you with a few pre-made hosting scripts in their control panel. If you use a free shopping cart then you won't have to learn HTML or PHP.

Nearly every website you visit is made of PHP and HTML, so I'd recommend you stick with PHP instead of ASP.NET. It's a lot more simpler but you will still need a webhost.

I agree with the person above me. PHP is being used more to do shopping carts, it is harder to find ASP carts then PHP. There is also a lot more places where you can find info on problems for a PHP shopping cart then a ASP shopping cart in case you run into a problem. But since you wanna do it in ASP.NET here goes. Keep in mind i did mine in php, so how you do yours could end up very different, but i just going to give you a basic idea of how it might go. Find a shopping cart you like, it might take days to find one you like an even maybe 2 weeks depending on what you are looking for....unless you are going to make your shopping cart from scratch, then you need to look up a lot of tutorials an begin making it...since the language is unknown to you, for now i would stick with ones already made so you can learn how a shoping cart works, its not as easy as it looks i promise. Hotscripts.com is a good place to starting looking at (atleast for me).If you decide to do it by scratch, wait till after its completely done before beginning to look for hosting. But, anyway, basically once you get one you like, download it to your computer. Each shopping cart size is different, an well it is a good idea to get the one you want so you can get an idea of the exact size you will need for your hosting account...after dowloading the file....right click on the entire the folder an do properties, an make sure general is selected and it should tell you the size. Now i would probably try to double the size of the folder, for example if its 68 bytes make it 136 bytes, that will give you an idea of what size hosting you should look for because you will have to account for you putting your own layout into the shopping cart and your products, an its better to go over then under on size. After you figure out the idea size you could use for your site, i would then begin looking for that size, but most hosting companys will allow you to change your plan if you end up going over your size limit. I, also recommend not doing a free hosting place. Pay for it, because if you do free ones they will block a lot of things, particularly shopping carts function (like buying a product) an it will just cause headaches, take it from personal experience. After that, there is a few choices. The premade shopping carts have it where you just upload the files to your ftp (you will need to get Filezilla, or some other ftp program to upload files to the hosting place), your hosting place will provide the information you will need to tell the ftp in order to log on to your part of the server where you can upload files. From there you are kinda on your own. since each programming languages works a bit different along with each shopping cart that is all i can provide you. On mine i had to upload databases to mysql. I then went to the website officially and i had a interface where i could add my own products without having to code anything, all i had to do was upload files and give a description. But i would recommend when you do your layout, to do it in another file and do a insert, basically where you get your layout from another file and you insert it into your official web page. Makes it easier to change later, and less a headache. If you need to find more info on insert just do insert ASP.NET. But each shopping cart is very different and you might not have to do as much or might have to do more. But i hope this helps.
