If you are planning to learn a single programming language then Java is the best programming language in this world. It's not just a programming language rather technology. It's fast, secure, easy to learn and platform independent programming language means "write once and run every where". There are three version of Java named J2SE, J2EE and J2ME. For normal coding use J2EE, for enterprise level solution use J2EE and for portable device like phone and tab use J2ME. Java is rapidly expanding programming language. You can do any thing using Java. The most common use of Java is for android coding. So learning Java now a days is of course smart choice.

I suggest Python and Java, since these are probably the biggest languages in use around the world.

However, I also suggest that if you want to stay a software engineer you have to mop up as many languages as you possibly can. After a while, you get to see that most languages are simply variation on a theme, and it gets a lot easier to learn a new one.

Thanks for replying , i know the uses of all tools,

but my question is that which is better for future.

i think so to many developers of java and they work on different companies for 4 8 years like developer, engineer, architectures and executive posts, and if we compare with php

only short term jobs and limited benifits

php is used to create dynamic web pages along with html and the mysql database. It will always be needed for the majority of web sites on the Internet because it can be run on most of them. Java is good for multi-platform uses, but anything you write for it will need to be digitally signed and approved soon or it will refuse to load or will require customer consent when used from websites. This is due to security issues. C and its derivatives are only useful for writing programs for ANY platform and which are designed to run on a colient machine. In addition if you are doing web development you need to learn at least javascript.
